Let’s be honest, Pinterest is a bride’s best friend when it comes to gathering inspo. It’s full of dreamy images, trending looks, and carefully curated styles that spark excitement and creativity during wedding planning. And honestly, I love when clients come to me with inspo photos, they’re a great tool for communication and help us get on the same page about the vibe you’re going for.
But here’s where a gentle reality check is helpful...

You’re Not Going to Look Exactly Like the Photo – and That’s a Good Thing!
We all have our own unique features, face shapes, eye shapes, skin tones, hair texture, bone structure, and personal style. That means you’re never going to look exactly like the person in the photo, because you look like you. And that’s not just okay, it’s what makes your bridal look truly yours.
Instead of trying to replicate an image to the tiniest detail, I encourage my brides to use Pinterest as a starting point. Ask yourself:
What do I love about this look?
Is it the softness around the face?
The glowing skin?
The volume or texture in the hair?
Then, we’ll take that inspiration and adapt it to enhance your own natural beauty.
Choose Inspiration That Reflects You
When browsing for inspo pics, it’s really helpful to look for images of people who have a similar face shape, skin tone, or hair colour or texture to yours. This gives a much more realistic idea of how certain styles and shades might translate on you.

A soft low bun might look romantic and effortless on one person and feel heavy or hidden on another, depending on their neck length, hair type, or dress style. Similarly, a bold smokey eye might be perfect on someone with big almond eyes but could look very different on hooded eyes unless the technique is tailored.
That’s where working with a professional artist comes in, I’ll guide you toward a look that still captures your dream aesthetic, but works beautifully with your features.
Beware the Filters and Photoshop Magic
It’s also important to remember that a lot of what we see online has been edited. Skin is often smoothed, lashes enhanced, hair made fuller, and lighting perfected. So if you’re pinning a photo that looks impossibly flawless, it may be because it is.
Professional makeup can absolutely enhance your features, help you feel like the most polished version of yourself, and last all day, but it’s not magic, and it shouldn’t feel like a mask. What you want is to look in the mirror and think, “Yes, that’s me, but elevated.”

Let’s Create a Look That’s Uniquely You
So bring your inspo pics, I love seeing what you’re drawn to. Just know that we’ll always work together to make sure the final result is something that fits you, your face, your style, and your day.
And if you’re still not quite sure what suits you best, a hair and makeup trial is the perfect chance to explore options and try on your dream look before the big day. I’m here to guide, suggest, and support you every step of the way.
Because in the end, your bridal look should feel timeless, comfortable, and uniquely yours.
